This is my 6th year at St. Mary’s School, and feel blessed every day that I get to come to this fabulous place. Someone told me this is the, “What makes you fabulous,” page and I think what makes me fabulous is that I get to spend each day with middle school students exploring our world through social studies and writing about in language arts each day. But I see myself as more than just the teacher of these subjects. I also like to plan adventures for middle school students, help them grow as young minds with ideas of their own and learn about their passions that may be very different than my own.
My own path to St. Mary’s is a twisty one, but brought me right where I am supposed to be. I grew up in Cottage Grove, MN, just outside St. Paul. I went to the College of St. Benedict and then decided to really find a different path. A friend of mine was attending law school in New Hampshire and encouraged me to explore New England schools. I taught middle school science, social studies, and language arts to 7th and 8th graders at the Winchester School for seven years and was mentored by some really fabulous teachers in New Hampshire.
After getting married to Mike, also known as Mr. Leonard, we moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota to be closer to my family. I spend my free time babying a Golden Lab named Beckett, watching the Red Sox or Patriots, quilting, reading, traveling or baking. This summer we moved to Willmar to a new house that we are settling into.
