Welcome Back! Welcome
back for a great new school year! We’re
excited about making music together again this year. Thanks!
Thank you for all the
prayers, cards, memorials, and kind wishes after the death of my father,
Everett Leff, on Sept. 11. Your caring and
concern makes this difficult time much easier for me. Calendar of Events: · Choir dates for this year are listed below. · Thursday, May 21: The Jr. High Band will present its third annual solo and ensemble concert at 1:00. A reminder to Jr. High Band students and parents: Practicing is the homework for this class. Daily individual practice at home is essential for students to make progress on their instruments and for the band to sound good! Practice sheets are sent home each Tuesday, and require a parent’s signature.
Choir The choirs of St. Mary’s School play a very important role in the worship life of our students, school, and parish. We are blessed to have Mrs. Prokosch as our faithful and talented accompanist. Please note our mission statement.
Below are the special dates for each choir. If a student must be absent from one of these events, parents are asked to send a written note to Mrs. Degner at least a week in advance of the event.

St. Mary’s School Music Department Philosophy
We believe that the study of music is essential to a complete education. We believe that music promotes the emotional and spiritual welfare of our students. We believe that the study of music helps students develop skills in self-expression, creativity, cooperation, teamwork, physical coordination, intellect, and an understanding of history and world cultures. We believe that all students are capable of making music, and that they learn best by actively participating in a carefully sequenced curriculum. We believe that a multi-media approach, which takes into account varied learning styles, is the most effective means of enabling all children to learn. We believe that student understanding is facilitated when students sing, play, listen, move, perform, analyze, create, and improvise.
