P.E. / Health
It is great to be here at St. Mary’s School for the 2022-2023 school year! I teach PreK-8th Grade PE & Health. This is my 10th year in education and I have worked previously as a PE & Health Teacher and as a school counselor.
I grew up in Oxford, MI., a small suburban town in the lower peninsula of Michigan between Detroit and Flint. I played sports throughout my childhood and still love to participate in sports as an adult. I graduated from Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) with a major in physical education and I was also a member and captain of the SVSU Softball team. GO CARDS!!! After graduation, I began coaching softball collegiately before starting my career in education. I attended graduate school at the University of North Dakota and earned a Master’s Degree in School Counseling.
I am married to my husband, Ben, and we have a son, Walker, who will be starting Kindergarten this year at St. Mary’s. We moved to Olivia, MN this summer after spending the last 10+ years in North Dakota. Our family loves sports and you will find us enjoying many school and community sporting events throughout the school year and summer. This past summer, I started golfing for the first time and have really enjoyed learning a new sport. I also enjoy board games, DIY home projects, and reading.
In my classes, I hope to encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth. My focus will be on lifelong movement, problem solving, collaborative team thinking, and individual success. My goal is for students to achieve their personal best and have FUN!
