Mrs. Elizabeth Strandberg
Music
Hello,
This is my 14th year at St. Mary’s. I teach PreK-8 Music. This includes Children’s Choir, Praise Team, 5th and 6th grade band as well as General Music classes. This often also includes various Handbell, Recorder, Orff, Ukulele and Boomwhacker Ensembles. I also help the students prepare for the weekly school masses.
I grew up in Swanville, MN on a hobby farm as the oldest of 7 children (the only girl!). I graduated from Wartburg College located in Waverly, IA in 2010 with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree (K-12) and a minor in Worship Studies. I taught K, 5-12 music in International Falls for 2 years and taught vocal music 6-12 in the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle School District in the 12/13 school year.
Our family currently lives in Bird Island. My husband, Nick, teaches 5-12 Band in the BOLD schools. My daughter, Mara, is a Junior and attends BOLD HS. My son, Jackson, is in his final year here at St. Marys as an 8th grader. We also have a daughter, Finley, who is in 1st grade and a son, Miles, who is part of the 4/5 year old pre-kindergarten class this year.
My husband and I keep ourselves busy! I teach piano and voice lessons before and after school and accompany the St. Mary’s Church Choir as well as play piano on weekend church masses. I am also a Deanery #3 representative for the Diocesan Worship Committee. My daughter, Mara, and I participate in the Diocedcan Lady of the Prairie Choir. I also like to volunteer in the other numerous activities my children participate in.
In my free time I enjoy reading, gardening, running and attending my children’s extra-curricular events.
