Welcome to 2023-2024 school year! My name is Mrs. Leslie Henslin.  The students refer to me as Ms. Leslie.

This is my eighth year at St. Mary’s School.  I continue to wear many hats throughout the day and enjoy helping in any way I can.  My primary role is Student Support.  I am available to students who are needing a little break, need help processing something that happened, need an opportunity to talk, or learn skills.  I provide monthly lessons in each classroom on different mental health topics or skills.  Students can also find me in the lunchroom or classroom as their substitute teacher!  I also a certified substitute teacher.  I love that I get to interact with each and every student in different ways throughout the school day.

A little about me….. I reside in Bird Island with my husband and three children.  My two boys attend St. Mary’s School as current 7^th and 5^th graders.  My daughter attends s1st grade at Central MN Christian School (CMCS) in Prinsburg.  She is a special little lady with many special needs and requires a full IEP and support services which she is able to receive through CMCS.  Many years ago, I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Community Counseling from Minnesota State University (MSU).  I spent a year interning as a private practice counselor and then worked nine years as a Children’s Mental Health Case Manager for McLeod County Human Services.

My role here is to support and guide students through hurdles that are getting in the way of them being the best students they can be.  If there are issues that arise and concern for students, I will be reaching out to parents to assist and may encourage added support through community resources.  Please feel free to contact me if you would like me to reach out to your child or if there are concerns that you would like me to be aware.
