Dear Parents and Families,
It’s an exciting time of year! St. Mary’s Marathon fundraiser will be starting TODAY, and we are ready to raise money for our wonderful school. This very important fundraiser provides for our school’s needs – our supplies, our operating costs, our staff – all the great things that make our school what it is. Students have been challenged to head out TODAY and begin gathering pledges to support our school. We are giving them some incentives to work towards our school goal!
As an individual incentive, for every 10 dollars a student brings in each day, he/she will receive his/her name in a drawing for a 10 dollar gift card to Dairy Queen (limit 10 entries per day). The drawing starts new each day so students have 10 chances to win! Winners are picked during announcements and gift cards sent home that day.
Dress-up days this year will happen on Tuesdays – and to participate, a student needs to bring a pledge that day of any amount.
Sept 29th – Hat Day – Bring a pledge and wear a hat!
October 6th – Silly Socks and Sunglasses Day – Bring a pledge and wear those crazy socks and shades!
October 13th – Wear What Brings You Joy – Bring a pledge and wear your favorite color from head to toe, your best dress or suit, or your cozy pants!
What are we pledging for? In return for the pledges, students will be providing service to Bird Island and Olivia residents that ask for help with a project, such as raking leaves or cleaning windows. An ad will be posted in the bulletin looking for projects our school can do to serve our community! Bird Island or Olivia residents looking for some help around their yards on Wednesday, October 14th can contact the school office to sign up for a time slot! We would love to have some parents volunteer with us on Marathon Day to underscore the value of service to our children. If you are able to help with your child’s class on October 14th, please let your child’s classroom teacher know. Our rain date will be the following Friday, October 23rd.
Also included is a set of thank you notes to hand to those who have given a donation for our marathon. Feel free to cut them apart and have your child sign or color them! More can be found on the school’s website to print and design as you wish!
