St. Mary’s students give back to the school & community
St. Mary’s Students Isabel, Piper & Kip O’Neill have been growing pumpkins for the past 3 years. The past 2 years all of the proceeds have gone to paying for a little girls school in Kenya.
This year, with the challenges that COVID has brought on, the kids decided to keep all proceeds local.
Isabel donated dodgeballs and other Phy Ed equipment to our school. Kip donated BeeBots (S.T.E.M. items) to our 1st grade class. And Piper donated over 100 “Who was” books to our library. They also donated to the Renville County Food Shelf & Renville County Walk in the Park.
Each year the kids plant, weed, pick, and wash the pumpkins. The pumpkins are sold as a free will offering, so any family can afford to purchase pumpkins for their family.
Scott Harroun at Ricky Jo’s Coffee in Olivia has been a blessing for the project as he has allowed them to sell the pumpkins at this site.
The kids also get a lot of help from their grandparents (John and Pat O’Neill) and their parents help as well.
THANK YOU to the Scott & Kelly O’Neill family for your generosity!! We are truely blessed to have such great families in our school! 💞
