St. Mary's School in Bird Island serves the area students in kindergarten through eighth grade by providing a Christ-centered Catholic education where academic excellence, self-worth and faith development go hand in hand in a safe environment.

On December 1st, the 8th grade class went to Mendota Heights to participate in Operation Christmas Child. This organization, part of the Samaritan’s Purse, provides shoeboxes full of gifts to children in150 countries around the world. The 8th graders had various jobs in the warehouse, from searching the boxes for inappropriate items; to packaging the boxes and taking them to the shoe box hospital if necessary!  The students volunteered for 3 hours and processed 1,000 boxes.
