5th Grade
Fifth grade is a big academic year for students. Along with their general classes, the students will be using novel units for Language Arts to correlate reading, grammar, and spelling skills. The students’ researching and writing skills will be expanded as they make Famous Americans “come alive” and portray them in a school assembly, all part of their Living History Project. It’s a busy, but exciting year.
As for me…I grew up on a dairy farm south of Danube with two older brothers. I graduated from Southwest State University (as it was called then) in Marshall with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education. I taught and coached volleyball in South Dakota before returning back to Olivia where my husband, Mike, and I raised our three children; Brent, Cody, and Devyn. Our children are now grown and on their own adventures. Mike and I have since moved out to the farm where he was raised. I have been with St. Mary’s School for 30 years and feel blessed for having worked with such great people, students, and families. I am looking forward to the great year ahead!!
